Club Events
The Savannah Cat Club has been quite active in moving the
Savannah breed forward.
Below are some of the displays, articles, exhibits, and
sponsorships the club has been active in.

A note from longtime Bengal Breeder, TICA Bengal Breed Section
Committee Member,
Bengal Breed Visionary Award Founder,
and Mid Atlantic Sportsmanship Award
Winner -- Anthony Hutcherson:
Thought I would send a little brag
for Pat, who is too humble to send a brag about her ring
after ring win of BEST Preliminary New Breed.
Course she was competing against me
every time. Since I got the sportsmanship award,
I couldn't steal all the ribbons
she'd won, but as you will see, she had quite a few to spare.
As to the cat, Ashantee...more than one judge said,
"She is the best Savannah they have
seen, and the best in the world that they are aware of."
"She is a beautiful, friendly cat who
you can instantly see is something special."
However as one judge said it,
"She has domestic body language and
is reminiscent of the Serval - not a copy of one."
I just hope she makes lots and lots of babies for all you Savannah folks
to utilize
in your pursuit of creating that
perfect cat.

January 2003
Reading, Pennsylvania Club Exhibit and Ring Sponsorship
A huge Savannah Cat Club display was held at the Reading,
Pennsylvania show.
Two F1 Savannahs, Two F2's and two F3 kittens were in attendance.
The TICA judges gave resounding remarks to the Savannahs being
evaluated,
and most of the judges stopped by to see the display in person
and the foundation Savannahs.
They played with the little F3's and tried to take them home!
A lot of publicity was created for the club and the breed --
thousands were there to talk to,
and in fact, our members lost their voices by
the end of the weekend.
A beautiful painted and carved wooden Savannah,
along with a colorful animal print sign for each of the six Savannahs was made
by Dawn Beitzel.
The public was enthralled with this breed, and the club had
several new people join.
Two young girls visited the show, and they happened to be doing
Savannah research projects
for their school assignments. The Savannah Cat Club members
offered to help in any way possible
by providing photos, information, etc.
The public was allowed to handle the F3 Savannah kittens and they
were quite a HIT!
We are all so proud of this breed -- it was the first show for
four of the cats attending,
and they behaved perfectly.

January 2003
Chicago, Illinois Display
Well.....
Firstly, congrats to the girls and their huge success at the Reading
Show!!!!! Sounds like the Savannahs were a huge hit!!!
We had a fantastic time in Schaumberg!
A huge thanks to Carol Streit
....she has been (I THINK) at nearly every Chicago area show with her Savannahs,
showing them in Evaluation... since the breed started in Evaluation....thus our
local 'exhibitors' and judges have been exposed to, witnessed and handled her
lovely Savannahs very often.
And in addition, I cannot speak highly enough about Carol as a
representative to the Savannah Breed and The Savannah Cat Club.....her Savannahs
are as sweet as they come, and are truly very impressive.
Having my F1 there was fun, and everyone enjoyed her immensely. She was
wonderfully behaved, as sweet and playful as ever....and wanted to run and play
with everything she laid her eyes on.
The judges were EXTREMELY receptive to her, and all were thrilled and very
willing to handle her in their rings, in between classes. Steve Savant, Fate
Mayes, Vicki Jo Harrison, Robin, Deb L., and all thought her to be a beautiful
representation with a super personality...all were aware that she is an F1.
The MOST COMMON comment from all was in regard to her very golden color and
her BEAUTIFUL ears...and I think as they evaluate our Savannahs, 'ears' are
something that they really find unique and special...which of course they
are...Also, they commented a great deal about the strong chin and full
'muzzle'....Not one of the judges were 'guarded' or unsure, even with Mazi being
an F1....and what this tells me MOST is that all of you who have been showing
your Savannahs across the country, have been doing so very successfully...and
have truly 'wowed' the judges with your Savannahs. and left them with nothing
more than a 'watering mouth' to see and handle MORE Savannahs!!!.....thank you
ALL very much!!
I was very, very happy to have been able to attend with Mazi, and am very
pleased with her behavior...she was not nervous at all, and just simply her
normal playful self and handled herself very confidently.
Had a great deal of spectators stop to visit with her...all enjoyed seeing
and petting her very much. Thanks Mikki for the great sign/pictures, it looked
fantastic!!! I put together an 8 x 10 picture/collage of our F1 baby kittens to
sit beside it...as well, distributed a lot of club flyers (thanks Mikki and
Jen!!)...
Martha Battenfield (long time Bengal breeder for those who do not know who
she is) took the time today, to take me aside....and thank me for bringing Mazi...and
to compliment her very fine behavior and personality....Martha is and has been a
very key person in the Bengal breed and its success, IMO...and has been
longstanding in very good report with TICA and TIBCS, and has held many various
important positions within TIBCS, etc...Having her comment and be so welcoming
of our Savannahs, is a huge huge benefit to all of us, and I was highly
complimented by her taking the time to speak with me today, as she is someone
whom I personally carry a lot of respect for and admire for all of her efforts.
We have been invited back for the big three day show at the end of February,
and I think we will be bringing our F2 along as well...
Thanks to everyone who helped me pull together the pictures and flyers for
the show, it was/is all greatly appreciated!! And a special thanks to my 13
year old son Ben, who was absolutely fantastic about helping keep an eye on Mazi
and talk with those who came by to ask questions. We did have a couple of judges
and our wonderful entry clerk, Annette Beyer whom all thought they should take
Mazi home. Annette is fantastic... and she and the Midwest Norwegian Forest Cat
Club have my many many thanks for allowing Mazi to attend this weekend, and for
making her so very very very welcome!!!!!
We are very looking forward to their Friday Nite Pajama Party and Show
February 21 - 23 in Schaumerg, Illinois.
Thanks again to all of your for the encouragement and help!!

TICA Annual in Virginia 2002
We had a blast today. Our display looked great and
many, many people came over and complimented us on it and the cats
themselves. Joyce gave each judge a wonderful folder in the morning on
the history of the breed and photos of what we are all trying to attain.
The cats were received very well by the judges, and most were marked
excellent except for ear placement or size. We all had a very busy day
and a great amount of fun.
Everyone loved our club shirts, so tell Cassie a big thank you.
Several other people came up to us and said our display was the most
professional and beautiful one they had ever seen.
